End of Support

Ubuntu 18.04 LTS To Reach End of Standard Support in this Month

I really don’t have any special memory with Ubuntu 18.04, but it somehow makes me feel a little emotional to know that Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver is marking it’s end of receiving standard support on May 31 2023. However, it’s not really the end of Ubuntu 18.04 either, as Ubuntu Pro subscribers would get 5 further years of Extended Support Maintenance (ESM), where security updates for base OS and community maintained apps will be provided. The good part is Ubuntu Pro subscription is actually free for personal users on up to 5 computers. Obviously, as Ubuntu makes 2 major releases each year with 9 months of support, and one of them being LTS in each 2 years with 5 years of support- Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, 22.04 LTS, 22.10 and 23.04 are currently in standard support period. Besides, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and 16.04 LTS are in their ESM period. Learn more:â€Ļ
